The organ is a musical keyboard instrument that produces notes by using pressurized air through a series of pipe divisions. It is played by using either a person's hands on the keyboard, or the feet by using its pedals. The term "organ" usually refers to the pipe organs, but can also include the reed organs and electronic organs.

The organ was first discovered almost 2000 years ago (285-222 BC), known back then as a water organ. Throughout history, the organ played an integral part in Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman culture, especially when races and games took place. It was used during the early medieval period in the Byzantine Empire, and then its influence spread to Western Europe where it gained popularity in the Catholic Church establishment. In the present time, the organ remains an important secular and recital instrument in the Classical music genre.

This collection contains 88 vintage books published from late 1800s to early 1900s, all on a single DVD. Discover the various types of organs used throughout history and how they were built, including illustrated catalogs and much more.

Take a look at the sample pages taken from just some of these books in the collection.
